Littlehampton man ‘disgusted’ to find maggots in sandwich after eating half of it
Richard Fulcher went to Morrisons in Wick to buy ingredients for a delicious homemade lunch – including a ‘pre-washed’ bag of organic spinach.
His sandwich assembled, the 30-year-old from Kingsway, Wick, tucked in.

Hide AdBut it was only after he had eaten one half that he noticed a stomach-churning intruder. He said: “I went to grab the sandwich to finish it, and I saw a maggot crawling out of it onto the plate.
“It was disgusting; I wouldn’t expect that from a store like Morrisons.
“The thought of it was what really got me. For an hour after that I was being sick, because I knew what I had just eaten.
“The lesson is to order a pizza, because I was having a lazy day and thought I’d buy a pizza. But then I thought ‘no, I’ll make my own lunch’.”

Hide AdHe also found a larva on top of the remaining spinach in the bag, he said.
Richard said he returned that day – July 2 – and the manager refunded his shopping, worth around £15.
But Richard wanted compensation for what happened. After being offered £10 – which he said was an ‘insult’ – Richard has been waiting for a further offer, he said.
After being approached by the paper, a Morrisons spokesman said they had resolved the matter.
