Speed checks in Lewes district amid Global Road Safety Week
Officers joined a community speed watch group in Lewes this morning.
A spokesman said on Twitter: “In just one hour 12 vehicles were exceeding the 30mph speed limit, the highest being 43mph.
“These drivers will be spoken to, educated and warned.”

Hide AdYesterday officers caught six drivers speeding in Pelham Rise, Peacehaven, doing over double the limit.
Meanwhile on Monday, officers in Seaford recorded 17 vehicles exceeding the speed limit in just a half-hour period – with the highest speed recorded at 43mph.
Officers also visited locations in Ringmer and Newick during the week.
In 2019, a total of 1,752 people were tragically killed on Britain’s roads, while another 25,945 were seriously injured.
