Hastings property owner fined by court

Colin Foy was served the notice on February 15 requiring that within three months of March 23, certain works were undertaken to improve the property in Cambridge Road.
The required works included hacking off and re-rendering and painting of all render, woodwork and metalwork.

Hide AdMr Foy was found guilty in his absence on Friday (August 5).
Councillor Kim Forward, the council’s lead member for development control, said: “The section 215 notice gives councils the power to deal with untidy land and dilapidated buildings, by getting owners to improve them. If they don’t, they get a fine, but still have to do the work as well. The notice was served on Mr Foy in February and despite warnings he failed to make the necessary property improvements.
“We take issues of this nature very seriously indeed and will prosecute if residents ignore our warnings.”
Mr Foy was fined £500 with costs of £432 and a victim surcharge of £50.
