Savings’ end result same as cuts, surely?
Firstly, regarding some councillors’ letters that the changes are not “cuts”, but “savings”. In my dictionary, savings – apart from the definition of “rescue” – means to avoid the need to use up or spend/forestall, obviate, prevent, not to spend or to withhold expenditure. Surely the same end result as “cut”!
Last year the town council gained £13,194 in unexpected interest on balances held and there were underspends in some budget areas.

Therefore, surprise, surprise, there are measurements!
Those of us who can comprehend feet and inches or metres know exactly what size the hall will be, and the Town Show will not fit in there.
Now, can we please have the real reason for the change.
