Slinfold’s ‘Pink Golfers’ raise thousands
Golfers, helpers and staff in pink, pink flags, and pink cakes set the scene for this fun Texas Scramble event. Kicked off by the traditional auction for favourable tees and shotgun start, was proceeded by registration and purchase of raffle tickets.
The halfway house was adorned by pink toped fairy cakes in every shade and size imaginable.

Hide AdThe fairways found and the exquisite greens conquered (eventually), The Pink players gathered in the clubhouse for the traditional auction and prize presentations.
With 13 auction lots ranging from tickets for the BBC Proms in the Park, beautiful silver cufflinks to vouchers for the prestigious Cowdray Park and Fox Hills the auction alone raised over £1,100 thanks to the skills of auctioneer Tony Tisshaw.
Everyone was a winner at this memorable day, a little or a lot lighter in wallet or purse perhaps, but well worth it, supporting two worthy charities - Macmillan Nurses and Breakthrough Breast Cancer UK.
The actual winners of the Charity Cup were Men’s Captain Clive Wright [8], David Robinson [8], Kevin Crump [7] and Bertie Chambers [0] with a very impressive score of 53.7...which included 12 birdies & 2 eagles, nearly 4 strokes ahead of Beckie Mabbutt, Igor Lemmens, Mike Lowery and Melanie Wedgbury on 57.9.

Hide AdThird place was won by Ian Massbery, Sue Thompson, Andy & Sue Puttock with 58.1
Nearest the pin prizes were won by Brenda O’Brien ,Sue Thompson and Anne Ditchfield for the ladies, and the men Fred Ransley, Ian Massbery and Bertie Chambers.
Presentations completed it was time to appreciate just how generous the supporters of Pink Day had been. With a cheque from Waitrose, donations from The Red Lyon in Slinfold, Julie & Martin Babisters Coffee day, the supporters of Pink Day raised £5,200 !
Pink Day has raised £28,250 over the past five years, as previously 100% of the monies collected is divided equally between the local Macmillan Nurses at Midhurst and Breakthrough Breast Cancer UK.
