Police are trying to trace a green Land Rover Discovery which rammed a marked police car near Crawley Down today (Wednesday, July 29).

Officers were travelling east on the A264 just after 3.30am early this morning when they spotted the vehicle speeding.

It failed to stop on request and continued along the B2028.

When it did stop, after the junction with Sunny Avenue, it reversed into the police car and mounted the bonnet, leaving the officers unable to continue the pursuit.

The Land Rover then drove off towards Crawley Down.
