Back to Blue for Bognor beach?
Ken Scutt told the town council he was hopeful the removal of the problem would lead to a Blue Flag for better water quality off the town's western beach.
Southern Water has accepted the connection of a private foul drain in the Nyewood Lane area to the public surface water sewer for many years had meant raw effluent being discharged into the sea.

Hide AdMr Scutt said this could have led to the area's frequent problems with dirty water.
The issue had been raised by the town council as far back as 1993 without any success.
The absence of a Blue Flag for the area's bathing water, which also covers part of Aldwick, contrasts with the situation on the eastern side of the pier.
That currently meets the Blue Flag standard and has generally done so for many years.
