More than 100 drivers caught using their phones in Sussex in one week - fresh warning as law change comes into effect

As many as 173 vehicles were stopped by police officers during a week-long road safety campaign in Sussex.

Officers from Surrey and Sussex Road Policing Unit’s (RPU) Commercial Vehicle Unit (CVU) used an unmarked HGV lorry and unmarked police vehicles in order to detect those 'who were not in proper control of their vehicle'.

"The CVU used the lorry from National Highways as well as unmarked police vehicles to enforce road safety," a Sussex Police spokesperson said.
