Head teacher vows to improve after Ofsted visit
St Andrew’s CofE High School for Boys, Sackville Road, Worthing, has lost its ‘good’ status and is now classed as ‘requiring improvement’.
Steve Mercer, the school’s headteacher, said: “Since the inspection we have lost no time at all.

“We are not making excuses. We need to make sure we are encouraging the boys more to realise their full potential and perhaps we are not doing that as strongly as we could do.”
The report did recognise the behaviour and safety of the boys at the school, calling these areas good. It said the boys were welcoming, polite and well behaved, and when they left school were mature young adults.
And on day two of the inspection, of the ten lessons observed, seven were classed as outstanding and three were good.
