Last Thursday (August 2), an animal rescue team were called to help a large Egyptian Uromastyx lizard called Zain that had got stuck under the decking of the pub. The specialist team, based at Crowborough Community Fire Station, rescue animals from dangerous situations alongside working with vets to raise awareness about animals in distressing situations. Ashley Artus, Zain’s owner, said: "Thank you so much to the firefighters from Brighton who carried out a fast, quick and painless rescue! You were so quick and brilliant! I was mortified and Zain is going to bed without supper!" East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service asked members of the public to first contact animal or wildlife charities for advice if they see an animal in distress.
