LETTER: Why pay more tax for police?
At a recent meeting in Horsham, the PCC advised that the number of policemen in West Sussex had been increased by over 200 but when prompted, confirmed that this had been preceded by a reduction of 500, before she took up office.
Since some residents are paying for Neighbourhood Wardens, to compensate for a reduction in police presence, they would be more than justified in asking why they should now pay more, at a time when disposable incomes have fallen steadily for many years and when we hear many complaints about the lack of response to reported crimes.
