Charlotte Matthews, Hannah Thomas, Emily Crundwell, Lily Kan, Grace Arnell, Danielle Sycz, Bethan Hazell, Taylor Montague and Maisy Parkhouse were competing at the regional novice floor and vault competition at the Spectrum Leisure centre in Guildford.
This is an extremely well-attended competition with clubs from across Surrey, Sussex and Kent competing. Medals and rosettes were awarded only for the overall top six places in each category so with such fierce competition, Arun’s gymnasts did brilliantly – gaining a total of six awards.

Hannah’s medal came as a result of a magnificent vault which saw her placed first combined with an excellent second place on floor while Charlotte achieved third place on vault and sixth on floor.
Following a mix-up with the scores Emily Crundwell, who placed fourth on vault and fifth on floor, was awarded a rosette for overall fourth place in her category but did actually finish in third and will be receiving a bronze medal from the regional committee shortly.
Lily Kan finished overall fourth and received a rosette after placing fourth on floor and sixth on vault while Arun’s final two rosettes were added following Grace Arnell’s superb third-place vault and Danielle Sycz’s fifth-place floor helped both gymnasts to overall fifth place in their respective categories.
