A cricketer from Sussex today started his 50th season as player today - and was given a guard of honour as he walked out to play.

David Parsons, who plays and is club president for Hurstpierpoint Cricket Club, made his first appearance on July 12 1970 and has since accumulated 22,342 runs across 761 innings.

Dave’s highest score is 122* and he has amassed 137 half centuries and 12 centuries in his career.

Dave is a stalwart of the club and his named is laced across the club honours boards and has his name to several club records including the highest opening partnership of an unbeaten 259 in 2010.
